Oriental Rugs Sizes Explained

Posted on November 5, 2014 at 10:18 PM Comments comments (1)
Hello Folks,

View of the showroom showing many of hand selected collection of Unique and Antique Oriental Rugs And Persian RugsHere we are again trying to make some  sense of Oriental Rugs and what they are. Well, as I explained in my earlier writings Oriental Rugs are hand made. On the other hand Persian Rugs although considered  oriental rugs, they are distinct from other hand knotted rugs. Persian Rugs or Persian Carpets are all woven in Iran. Other oriental rugs and carpets are from different countries of Asia and North Africa as well as some European countries. One needs to be careful when purchasing oriental rugs because there are countless numbers of rugs out in the market that although they are hand made,  they are not Persian Rugs. Please make sure that the seller is knowledgeable in the field of genuine Persian Rugs and he/she is willing to spend as much time as needed to tell you about the rug you are purchasing! Please come back and visit my site. I'll be explaining in my future writings why you should buy a genuine Persian Carpet or a Persian Rug.

NOTE: Be aware of names such as Indo-Persian, Sino-Persian, Persian Style.........! Make sure you ask where the rug you are buying is actually woven!

Don't forget to have your Oriental Rugs cleaned by a professional. Clean rugs are healthier to live with and proper maintenance and Oriental Rug Repairs will increase the longevity of your Hand Made Rugs. If you have any questions about purchasing a Persian Rug, Antique Rug, hand washing your Persian Rugs or Antique Rug cleaning don't hesitate to call me for a personal consultation. Thank you for taking time to read my message.

Is there a difference between Persian Rugs and Oriental Rugs? Well! many experts and merchants of rugs and carpets agree that the term "Oriental Rug" applies to all handmade rugs regardless of size and the region of a country that it was made. This term applies to the carpet and rugs that have pile  and are not  flatly woven like Kilims(killims) and/or tapestries.  Please come back visit with us soon. I'll be discussing the SIZE of rugs and the terms are used to identify a particular size .
